Three octavo volumes (8 1/8 x 5 inches; 207 x 126 mm.). xxxiv, 536; [2], 605, [1, blank]; [2], 573, [1, blank] pp. Bound without the folding "Round Robin" facsimile at the beginning of Volume I and the folding plate of facsimiles of Johnson's handwriting at the end of Volume III. Page 257 incorrectly numbered 725 in Volume I; p. 160 numbered upside-down, and p. 325 numbered 225 in Volume II; and p. 557 incorrectly numbered 57 in Volume III.

Contemporary tree calf. Expertly rebacked (by Aquarius?) with smooth spines richly gilt with red and black morocco gilt lettering labels. A very attractive set.
