Bound by Bayntun-Rivière (stamp-signed in gilt on the rear turn-in) in full blue morocco. Covers pictorially stamped in gilt with a central vignette of a young girl with a watering can standing under a rose arbor, with a town in the background, within a decorative frame composed of a stylized onlaid brown morocco strapwork gilt and onlaid pink, red, tan, and burgundy morocco gilt roses on stems with onlaid green morocco gilt leaves, all within an outer border of onlaid green morocco strapwork between an outer gilt fillet and an inner blind fillet. Spine in six compartments with five gilt-dotted raised bands, lettered in gilt in two compartments and dated in gilt at the foot, the remaining four compartments panelled with onlaid green morocco strapwork between an outer gilt fillet and an inner blind fillet filled with onlaid pink, red, tan, and burgundy morocco gilt roses on stems with onlaid green morocco gilt leaves. Turn-ins ruled in gilt and blind with corner ornaments of onlaid morocco gilt roses (red and tanon the front turn-in and burgundy and pink on the rear turn-in) on stems with onlaid green morocco gilt leaves, board edges decoratively tooled in gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut, marbled endpapers. A fine copy, in an exquisite and highly ornate binding. Housed in a light blue cloth clamshell case lined with felt. Item #00518
