Two small octavo volumes bound in one (6 11/16 x 4 5/16 inches; 170 x 110 mm.). [2], 428, [8], [2, blank] pp. (The Whole Book of Psalmes; The New Testament unpaginated). Title within woodcut typographic border.

In a contemporary London binding of dark brown goatskin. Covers paneled in gilt, smooth spine paneled in gilt, board edges and turn-ins decoratively tooled in gilt, all edges gilt. Silver cockleshell-shaped hasps attached to new leather straps and silver catch pins. Clasps. Minimal rubbing. Head of spine lightly chipped. Penciled signature of E. Cox on front flyleaf. Early ink signature of Ane [?] on second front flyleaf. Slight dampstain in the lower margin of the last twelve leaves. A wonderful example. Housed in a half black morocco clamshell case.

“This perhaps, is the N.T. belonging to an edition of the Bible of the same year. Lee (Memorial, p. 114) mentions a pocket Bible of this dated printed by Tyler” (Darlow & Moule).
