Deluxe edition, limited to 525 copies signed by Arthur Rackham, this being copy no. 195. Tall octavo (9 5/8 x 7 3/8 in; 245 x 186 mm). xxii, 121, [1] pp. Twelve color plates mounted on heavy brown stock with captioned tissue guards, twenty-four black and white drawings as head- tailpieces.

Bound c. 1960s by Bayntun-Riviere (stamp-signed) and finished by Christopher Lewis in full royal blue morocco with a triple fillet frame enclosing a triple fillet panel with floral and foliate corner-pieces and varicolored morocco onlays reproducing part of the Rackham illustration opposite page forty. Gilt framed and decorated compartments. Broad turn-ins with gilt rules and corner ornaments. Gilt rolled edges. All edges gilt. Spine sunned to warm green, otherwise a fine copy. Housed in the original fleece-lined, blue cloth slipcase.

"When The Allies' Fairy Book was published, [Edmund] Gosse wrote to Rackham (6th November 1916): 'Will you think me impertinent if I tell you how beautiful I think your illustrations... their variety, and ingenuity, and the delicacy of your fancy, and the romantic ardour of your mind, were never so humble a degree - in a work so charming'" (Hudson, p. 104).
