Publishers blue cloth, front cover lettered in gilt and with a duplicate of the color frontispiece pasted on, spine lettered in gilt. One color plate (facing p.99) with light crease to lower right corner, one leaf (pp. 95/6) with marginal tear neatly repaired, two leaves poorly opened (pp. 109-112), two bookplates on front free endpaper. A bright and near fine copy.
"Of the eleven tales which the present volume comprises, the first eight are from the master-hand of Charles Perrault…" (Prefatory note).
The tales included are: The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood, Puss in Boots, Little Tom Thumb, The Fairies, Ricky of the Tuft, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Blue Beard, Beauty and the Beast (Mme Leprince de Beaumont), The Friendly Frog (Mme d'Aulnoy) and Princess Rosette (Mme d'Aulnoy).
