Contemporary full plum calf, covers elaborately stamped in gilt and blind, spines with three raised bands, decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, elaborate gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. A fine set.
Thomas Otway (1652-1685) was an English dramatist of the Restoration period, best known for Venice Preserv'd; or, A Plot Discover'd. A tragedy (1682).
