Four works bound in one volume. Sixteenmo. (5 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches; 140 x 82 mm.). Preliminary leaf with neat previous owners inscription dated 1886, and circular embossed stamp of Swinnerton and Brown, Booksellers and Stationers. Macclesfield.

Handsomely bound in contemporary full brown morocco, covers triple bordered in gilt enclosing a central panel decorated with fleur-de-lys in gilt and blind and lettered in gilt "Church Services'. Spine with five raised bands decoratively bordered, tooled and lettered in gilt and blind in compartments. Decorative gilt board-edges and turn-ins, marbled end-papers. All edges gilt and elaborately gauffered with a fleur-de-lys, floral, diamond and circular design. An exceptionally fine example housed in it's original full black morocco slipcase complete with original fold-over lid.

This is a really fine example of a provincial English binding, certainly bound for, or possibly by Swinnerton and Brown of Macclesfield.
