The Beswick firm began producing Beatrix Potter figures in 1948 with Jemima Puddle-Duck, Little Pig Robinson, and Squirrel Nutkin, initiating what would become one of the most beloved lines of twentieth-century collectible porcelain. The models, issued over more than five decades, were based directly on Potter’s original illustrations, with subtle changes across production runs. Early issues (1948–1960s) are especially prized for their quality of modeling and paint. Later limited editions and special issues, such as Hiding from the Cat and Mrs. Rabbit and the Four Bunnies, add scarcity and collector interest.
A delightful and wide-ranging collection of twenty-nine pieces (including thimble), representing both early post-war issues and later limited editions, and providing an excellent foundation for or addition to a Beatrix Potter porcelain collection.
