Handsomely bound for Asprey's ca. 1960 in three quarter dark green morocco over green cloth boards, spine with five raised bands decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, green end-papers, top edge gilt.
Spine faded but still a most attractive and well-executed binding.
The inclusion of four of Gilbert’s most enduring operas - Iolanthe, The Mikado, Ruddigore, and The Gondoliers - gives the volume a broader appeal, bringing together some of the finest examples of Victorian comic opera, all interpreted through the elegant and theatrical color plates of W. Russell Flint.
