Monsignor Quixote stands among Greene’s later “entertainments,” a gently satirical and deeply humane reimagining of Don Quixote in post-Franco Spain, blending theological debate, political reflection, and the author’s characteristic moral ambiguity. The novel forms part of Greene’s late exploration of faith and doubt, echoing earlier works such as The Power and the Glory and The End of the Affair.
